What is the ACR?
The Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) is a professional organization dedicated to enhancing the practice and public understanding of conflict resolution. ACR represents and serves a diverse national and international audience that includes more than 6,000 mediators, arbitrators, facilitators, educators, and others involved in the field of conflict resolution and collaborative decision-making. Anyone interested in the field of conflict resolution is welcome to join.
Susan V. Edwards is Membership Chair and sits on the Advisory Council of the Family Section of the Association for Conflict Resolution (click here for more information on the ACR). She is an Advanced Practitioner/Educator Member of that international organization.
Susan was member of a diverse delegation of ACR members who participated in a People to People professional exchange to South Africa on November 7-19, 2004. The delegation, led by ACR CEO David Hart and Mark Wilson, studied the nation's emergence from decades of apartheid and South Africa's development of a democratic society. Delegates learned about South Africa's truth and reconciliation programs and shared ideas with their counterparts in South Africa.
States Susan, “Professionally this was such an important trip. But also on a personal level, it was a revelation for me to experience the cultural differences, and the South African habitat and wildlife were fascinating.” Photos of some of the sights of South Africa are on this page.
